Five Things to Consider When Designing Your Dream Kitchen

Are you planning on purchasing new kitchen cabinets? Whether for a newly constructed home or for a remodeling project, consider one important factor, your kitchen is the heart of your home! It is not just a place to dine; it is also the main gathering place for family and friends and a place for entertaining. This is particularly true with today’s popular open floor plans and great room designs. Because your kitchen plays such an important part of your home there are a few things to consider in your planning process.

1) Kind in mind future buyers

Even if you are currently building your dream home, it is possible that someday you will have a need to sell your home. Or, if you are remodeling your existing home to make it more comfortable for you and your family, you may still find the need to sell it someday. Because of this, even if you aren’t ready to sell your home today you should always ponder what potential buyers would think of your kitchen cabinet selection and layout because opinions of your kitchen can drastically either increase or decrease your selling price. A practical kitchen layout is typically everyone’s goal, but cabinet styles and finishes are more of a personal choice. Are you attracted to traditional styles or more modern styles? Do you like kitchen cabinets with distinct wood grain or ones with nearly no grain? Whichever you personally prefer always keep future buyers in mind as it can play an important part in your bottom line.

2) The Work Triangle

All homeowners seek a functional workspace in the kitchen. In planning your kitchen layout it is important to consider the distance between your sink, stove and refrigerator in relationship to each other. Connecting these three workstations from their center points should create an invisible “work triangle.” According to the National Kitchen and Bath Association the sum of the three distances should be no more than 26 feet, with no single side of the triangle being less than four feet or more than nine feet. There are a couple things to consider with planning a well-designed work triangle; watch out for any triangle legs that may intersect an obstacle like an island, and make sure that no major traffic patterns cross through the work triangle. Proper planning of your “work triangle,” taking all obstacles and limitations into review, will help create a functional workspace that will be both practical for you and your future buyers.

3) Kitchen cabinet storage is key

When designing your dream kitchen it is key to consider your storage space, along with ample countertop space. Kitchen cabinet layout services are available to help you maximize your space and create the best flow of cabinetry. The first place to look for extra storage space is your corners. In small, tight kitchens a blind corner cabinet can be used to get the most use out of the corner. However, to get the most efficient use of the corner space a lazy susan corner cabinet or easy reach cabinet should be used. These cabinet options maximize the corner space while allowing easy entry to it contents. Or try adding rollout trays in your base kitchen cabinets to help access your pots and pans, or in your pantries in order to reach cans and dry goods more easily. Another suggestion would be to include a 24” deep bridge cabinet in your kitchen cabinet layout above your refrigerator. Most people keep unused or seasonal items above the refrigerator for the simple fact that they can’t reach the cabinet. Therefore, consider a 24” deep refrigerator cabinet for easier access.

4) Use kitchen cabinets to create islands or peninsulas

Kitchen cabinets can be configured to create center islands or peninsulas. These cabinet configurations are very attractive to homeowners with an open floor plan. Using kitchen cabinets this way creates an area for a breakfast nook with the ability to pull up stools. Kitchen cabinets used in this manner instantly increases seating space, which is ideal since kitchens are typically gathering places. Islands and peninsulas also create more storage space.

5) Bells and Whistles

Just like purchasing a new vehicle, there are upgrade options to consider when purchasing your new kitchen cabinets. For example, what type of drawers do you want in your base cabinets? Will the standard particleboard drawer secured with glue and staples be sufficient? Or would you prefer an all-wood drawer constructed with dove-tailed joints? Or better yet, would you want the all-wood, dove-tailed drawer with full-extension drawer glides that include a silent close feature? Other construction upgrades can include all plywood construction, and custom depth cabinets. Besides construction upgrades there are accessory cabinets that provide you with some “bell and whistle” qualities that can give your kitchen a custom and personalized look. Give consideration to glass door cabinets for displaying your keepsakes or china dinnerware, an appliance hutch for hiding small appliances on your countertop, roll out trays for base cabinets, integrated waste baskets, corner shelves, and wine racks. When selecting your bells and whistles keep in mind both your budget and overall functionality and flow of your kitchen for optimal results.

Remember, your kitchen is the heart of your home! Success in constructing a timeless, comfortable space is creating a balance between an efficient layout and design with your personal tastes, while keeping with the end goal of adding value to your home.

Lake Tahoe, the American Dream Vacation by: Jan Gamm

There are some locations which lend themselves with perfection to just about every vacation experience. Lake Tahoe is one of these magical places, rich with life and color throughout the year, blending perfectly with the seasons and providing winter skiing, summer water sports, a breathtaking autumn palette of color and springtime beauty to rival any destination in the world.

The USA is understandably proud of this jewel in the crown of National Parks. Part Californian and partly overlapping Nevada, the lake is home to hundreds of species of wildlife, a dream come true for naturalists and sportsmen.

One of Tahoe’s more popular locations, the Nevada Heavenly resort, offers an incredibly exciting gondola ride. It runs all year round and is one of the best sightseeing tours in the area. The cabins accommodate 8 passengers and run over 3.5 kilometers up the mountain, enjoying spectacular views en route. There is a 14,000 square foot observation deck at mid-station where the views are tremendous.

There are refreshments available on The Deck, telescopes, restrooms and picnic facilities. A great choice for children, the Gondola runs from 10.00 until 17.00 daily but it is advisable to check as there are one or two dates during the season when the ride is closed.

Heavenly features both the longest and the steepest ski runs, the longest being 5.5 miles and the steepest having a vertical stomach-dropping fall of 3,600 feet. The water at Tahoe is reputed to be crystal clear, boasting a 99.9% purity, it seems unreasonable to complain about the 0.% shortfall!

Another great attraction is the helicopter tour, a sparkling 10 minute flight over stunning Emerald Bay. This starts at US49 per person, and the helicopter can accommodate three passengers plus the pilot. It’s well worth the trip and includes a bird’s eye view of Fallen Leaf, where Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston filmed the snowy scenes in The Bodyguard.

Activities available at the Lake include golf, snowboarding, skiing, water skiing, gambling in one of the casinos, fishing, boating, and of course there are shopping areas and restaurants if you get tired of the outdoor life and need some retail therapy for the afternoon.

Beautiful Tahoe has attracted a number of celebrities over the years including Cher and Sammy Davis Jr. The great thing is there is always plenty going on around the lake and if you want to fill your evenings as well as your days there is certainly loads to choose from in the way of amusement.

Consider using our beautiful Tahoe lakefront home as a base from which to enjoy this stunning location. Right on lakeside and a perfect getaway retreat for fun family gatherings. This gorgeous home is equipped with every luxury including a deck side hot tub, just the thing after a day on the lake.

Dream Vacation - Ferry To Sweden

Ferries are sea transport in the form of boat or ship that carries passengers, cargo and sometimes vehicles. It is a type of public transportation that has been around for centuries. It is a cheaper way to travel from one point to another, but lately a trip through a ferry is made not only for financial consideration but for leisure as well. Today’s ferries or cruise ships are more efficient and mostly built with the passenger’s convenience in mind, and some big ones can accommodate hundreds of passengers, baggage and vehicles in one time. Granite Tile Installation = Dream House?

There was once a time when building a house is all about how much the budget is and what kind of house it is. No other concerns. No other thing matters except for the house to be built and as soon as possible.

But now, from roofing to flooring to wall designs, to paint and window tinting, to granite tile installation and granite fabricator installation, from stone floor installation to granite countertop installation. I mean I can't even believe such terms exist. But like everything else around all of us, change happens and words and vocabulary, along with hairstyles, clothing and the weather is no exception to the rule. Nobody escapes the only permanent thing on earth and that is change.

When I was still a young girl, I told myself that I want my own house to be near the beach or to have its very own garden leading to an overlooking cliff. I want a sunroof for the master's bedroom, I want a solarium and a lot of animals that my children can take care of and plants and trees that would dot my environment. I want my own patch of paradise on earth.

Now that I am very close to having my very own dream house, it makes me smile that I am being asked whether I want to use this over that, like for example tiles over concrete or no tiles, and other things that do not matter way back. I even ask for assistance and suggestions though for the most part of it, I try my very best to have my very own ideas.

At times, there are things though that I don’t agree on with the people who suggest things to me. Take for example a granite fabricator California prides itself of is somebody that does not even pass my criteria. So it takes more time. Furthermore, just like everybody, there are so many different perceptions and factors that could affect our decisions that is why I don’t I am not the ideal client. I am very idealistic, and I insist on what I really want.

When I was a child, my only goal is to have my own house, I even had this belief that even if it’s going to be a small one, what matters is that I own it and the people inside it love me. I never cared about the size or even the rooms inside the house, as long as I own it and I’m with the persons I love, that’s what matters.

Now that I am in my early twenties and for the first time, having my own house built, I realized that, dreams have a way of changing, not for the good but for the better. The dream house I had when I was a child still matters, I still can live on that house. But the thing is, I cannot live in it with my future family. So now, I am planning on a ten-roomed house. For the big family I am going to have someday, I think that is

New Inventions - How To Dream Them Up by: Steve Gillman

How do you dream up ideas for new inventions? Use any of the many excellent idea-creation techniques. One of the easiest is the use of a modifying-word list.

Several times now I have seen giant chairs. The most recent one was in a bar, being used by the host of a trivia contest. It was eight feet tall. Someone made and sold that chair, but how did he think of the idea? The simplest way would be to look at things and ask "what if it was bigger?"

That is the essence of the modifying word list. You look at things and ask, "What if it was..." and insert a word from the list to stimulate ideas for new inventions. To show the technique in action, I just looked around the room and chose a table as a test subject. I look at the word list and ask "What if it was..."

Bigger: If it had leaves that spread from a central pivot, it could be opened up easily into a larger surface, like a hand fan opened horizontally.

Movable: The obvious idea here is to put wheels on it. Another possibility is a line of super light tables that can be carried from room to room easily.

Cheaper: I once used an old door as a table. Are there cheap and available materials that could be used to make doors?

Interesting: Make tables that are covered in family photos (or anything else you want). The top would then be encased in acrylic. Easy to clean too!

Divided: Four small tables that can be used on their own or connected into one large table?

Subtracted from: Take away the legs and it would be easier to clean under. Could it hang from the ceiling?

Hotter: A warming tray built into the center of the table might be convenient for keeping meals hot.

Happier: Use colors that evoke positive emotions. Make cartoon-covered tables for day-care centers.

Take notes as you do this, and develop or discard the ideas later. Most words won't give you useful ideas, but don't dismiss them without a few seconds of thought. Creative solutions can begin with unrelated thoughts. "What if it was boring?" may seem useless, but then it could lead to the development of a line of furniture based purely on function: simple and cheap.

Words For New Inventions

You can make your own list for this technique. Generally it will need a lot of adjectives, but any words that have the potential to change your perspective can work. You may want to include some of the following.

What if it was... larger... smaller... farther away... closer... sooner... later... easier... more difficult... softer... harder... poorer... richer... wetter... drier... higher... lower... longer... shorter... certain... uncertain... newer... older... divided... combined... more common... less common... faster... slower... better... worse... hotter... colder... added to... subtracted from... left alone... hopeless... imaginary... cheaper... more expensive?

Take notes as you do this exercise, and give each word a few seconds of thought. Creative solutions can begin with unrelated thoughts. "What if it was hopeless?" may seem useless, if you are looking for new inventions to replace existing shopping carts, but it could also make you look beyond ways for customers to gather their groceries. Maybe an invention to bring the groceries to the customer would be more radical and marketable.

Your Dream Holiday on Crete by: Dan Williams

Across the Aegean there are many dream holiday islands to choose from, but for many holidaymakers the largest of the Greek islands, Crete, still retains unique factors that set it apart from the others. As you examine the vacation possibilities on Crete you will be spoilt for choice with a vast selection of luxury hotels and villas.

Secluded coves, breathtaking bays, golden sandy beaches and dramatic countryside backdrops make the island a very special place. It’s no wonder that the island has attracted the rich and famous including celebrities, royalty, world leaders and stars of film and music over the years.

In terms of history Crete can rank with the best of other islands and locations in the Aegean. Some of the earliest European human settlements from the Minoan era have been found on Crete but for most visitors the island’s main attraction are its weather and holiday options.

The size of the island (almost 250 kilometres from east to west) provides it with around 1000 kilometres of wonderful coastline to enjoy. Daytime average temperatures rarely drop below 15 degrees Celsius, even in winter, and during the months May to October temperatures are always warm and pleasant. Rainfall is also negligible during June, July and August.

Crete ranks alongside Lanzarote in terms of visitor numbers, with around 2 million visitors coming to the island every year. Much of the growth in Crete’s popularity came in the late 1980’s when visitors numbers jumped by 50 per cent.

The capital of the island, Heraklion, is also the main transport hub, providing a port for cruise ship arrivals and an international airport which is currently quite stretched and in need of expansion. The airport is the second busiest in Greece and handles around 5 million passengers per year. Six years ago the Greek government announced plans for a new airport that should become operation by 2014. Reading the reviews, few people have a good word to say about the current airport, especially during busy periods, but don’t let that put you off from visiting Crete. Once you get beyond the hustle and bustle of the airport, this wonderful island will reward you with its treasures.

Crete is a large island and you are unlikely to be able to take in all of its wonderful offerings in one visit. Here are some of the more beautiful bays and coves across the island.

At Elounda you will be greeted by the almost perfect bay, home to a selection of some of the island’s most luxurious hotels. Luxury villas are also a feature of the area and recent constructions exhibit state of the art contemporary design with stunning balconies and infinity pools carved into the hillside around the bay.

For people who want to get away from the mass crowds the bay at Loutro may have everything you need. It’s a small stony seaside village on the south coast of the island and is fairly inaccessible making it amazingly quiet. There are a few local developments so you will not be totally cut off, but peaceful beaches and gentle swims in crystal clear waters may be all you need for the perfect day.

Remember the advertising slogan “a taste of paradise”? The beach at Vai, surrounded by palm trees, was made famous in one of the Bounty commercials and is still called the Bounty beach by some. It is a popular spot with a lovely sandy beach and plenty of sunshades to shelter beneath, but can become crowded during high season.

Finally you may be tempted by a visit to the beach at Matala. Despite having one of the best beaches on the island, with soft golden sand leading down to wonderful waters for swimming, this location retains some of its original relaxed atmosphere. It is here, in the caves near the beach, that German and English hippies made their home during the 1960’s. The village itself now makes the most of its attraction to tourists. It is mainly made up of hotels and rooms for rental and can become very busy during the summer, so perhaps the best time to go there would be out of the main season.

To Have a Dream, Living Without a Goal by: Thea Verhoeckx

This is our story how we change everything in live we had, bought a gypsy carriage and two horses and went away.

We can recommend the choices we have made to everybody. Because it is possible to give a friendly goodbye to the boss, leave your house, to take beloved ones and belongings with you and follow your dream.

We (John and Thea) are a married couple for two whole years now. We met each other, four years ago on the Internet. We made immediately “the click.” After three months, we already moved John’s computer to my house. Soon the computer followed by books and books, his son, and even more books. My own two kids really get along with John and his son. They are all above twenty and independent young people.

At that time John was not working. Quit his Psychiatric nurse job looking for a different perspective on work in generally.
He found this later when he starts up his own coaching practice. I worked with juvenile delinquencies, specifically with young dropouts from school. Nice jobs, good perspectives for both of us, no worries about that at all. In my free time, I was re-building my house, planning to live there for a couple of years. It changes for the better. Together we bought a house in Breda. A small town at the South of Holland. Beautiful place, nice surrounding. The house big enough for two out of three children. One was studying already.

After a short break in the country, we start fantasizing about our dreams in the nearby future.

We start to think about these questions:

What do we REALLY want in our lives?
What do we really NEED?
What do we have and DON’T really want it ANYMORE?
What are the subjects we want to EXPLORE in the future?
Is there a GOAL to go for?
Is there something in the past that we have done and want to do it AGAIN?
Is there a reason TO WAIT till later?
Is there any urgent reason not to DO IT NOW?
Will that reason later also exist?
Will we die and regret that we DIDN’T do THIS?

Why work to pay for a car that you need for your work to pay the mortgage etc.?

Is there no other way of living?

Live is too beautiful to be limited in goals.

John has a dream of working with horses again. In the past, he worked with them on an unusual way. One horse in front of a car, collecting leftovers and bring them to a cow farm. The ecological environment movement was booming business in Holland at that time. John got involved in that and had a good time for almost two years. His memories about that time are lively and inspiring. Thea, ready for a change in life with less responsibility more freedom in lifestyle, gets enthusiastic by the idea of working with horses.

Full swing.

We unmistakably go “the full swing”.

To start a new life, we need “new space”, in our mind and thoughts in let go off all security.

Somewhere along the line, we came up with the idea of applying our thoughts on the mainland. In a special way: resign from our jobs, cancel the practice, and buy two horses and a wagon.

That means, sell our house, quit jobs and sell all we have or bring it to charity.

Full freedom to do what we want or what will come up in the future.

The money comes from the house we sell. That is for sure. About our jobs, we can be short. We both have the qualities, if necessary, to start al over again. The skills required for our jobs we still have and can only involve with the experiences we will meet. The so-called securities in life did not fall from the sky. We both work hard for that and will do so again if necessary.

First, we looked in Ireland for a place where we could live and work, to fulfil our dream, further away from the busy life in Holland. We had the plan to settle here, life in the country, working with horses. Ireland is actually one of the most expensive countries to live in within Europe. Therefore, that was not quite it.

Behold the ingredients for the Slow Express Journey, a project in which only the direction is set and not a goal.

The goal will unfold itself and afterwards we might be able to formulate it.

How this will end up in a world that is entirely submit to the regime of purpose?

You Can Have the Dream! An Income Producing Website

A few days back I went for a motorcycle ride on beautiful roads and scenery and we ate at good restaurants and had great conversations. When I got back there was notification of sales in my email!

My business, this little ol' blog of mine, had visitors while I was gone and they saw fit to buy something. Some others joined my list! PayPal took their money and sent them to my download page and they got what they bought while I was having the time of my life out riding a motorcycle around Oregon.

That's an example of what I am heading into. I want sites that draw their own traffic to content that is matched to draw the right traffic. Then I want the sales process to be completely automated. This isn't some pipe dream. These sites are all over the world!

But, at first, I didn't really know what they were and I for sure didn't know how to make one. It took me a while but once I got the idea of what I wanted firmly planted in my head, I took steps to get there.

Automatic websites that spin out income. Low overhead. Low maintenance.

That is my dream! That is what I want. Maybe anybody would. But I am willing to do the work it takes to get that set up! And it's considerable. You gotta want it.

In this business (Internet Marketing) there are two types of people I have met. There are the ones who hear the dream and would like to have it but they don’t do the work necessary to get it, so they don't get there. I think some of them are ruined by the scammers in this business who say it’s going to be easy.

Then there are the other types. The ones who get it (the dream) and want it and are willing to put out the effort it takes to get it. They are my customers and advisors.

Here is what I found were the basic obstacles everybody faces when at first they consider the alchemy of making money online.

One – You have to be able to make a simple web page with an HTML editor.

Two - You have to be able to get a Domain Name and Hosting so that you can put your simple web pages up on the web for all to see.

Three - You have to be able to install an autoresponder and collect names and nurture your list. (learn email marketing)

Four – You have to learn how to drive targeted traffic to your web pages (sales pages) – including article marketing.

Five - You need to put up a blog and populate it with the content you need so that Google will bring you organic (free) targeted traffic. ie if you want acne sufferers you populate your blog with acne articles and videos.

Six – You need to be able to get paid (collect money) automatically and not have things go haywire on you. You need to be able to rig a simple download page, or how will you automatically deliver the info you just got paid for.

Seven – You need to become conversant with the language of this business and some of the small technical things that scare off the uncommitted. Things like FTP and Hyperlinks and anchor text.

When you get the physical infrastructure obstacles out of your unlearned way and actually WORKING for you THEN you can start marketing (selling) in ernest.

First you get your marketing machine (infrastructure) in place and working. Doing this builds the base you need for operation. Remember our goal! To build a business that operates automatically and then to GROW that!

Then you give it the content it needs to attract the type of people you need and just get down to the basics of marketing.

Stuff like writing sales copy. Stuff like coming up with products to sell to the type of traffic you have coming. Writing email sequences. Learning different methods of gaining traffic. Getting better at all this all the time. Growing the business. Once it’s growing and looking good…duplicate it. Or not.

I say "or not" because some people would be interested in having a good income from one website and it is definitely the right idea for some folks.

I recommend staying with one site until you have it all fleshed out and producing some income and building a list or you are not done with it yet when it comes to set up.

There is maintenance. You have to re tweak copy. You have to drive traffic. You need to pay attention to your list and email marketing.

After you have one site up and running you can decide whether or not to go to another. It'll be an easy decision. You'll know what it is and what you want, unlike the first time.

Inventor Comes Up With Dream Product by: Susan D. Brandenburg

While his natural curiosity has often led inventor Frank Miller of Ponte Vedra Beach to research and development, his diagnosis of prostate cancer six years ago added another kind of R&D to his repertoire -- resolve and determination.

"I had no insurance when I was diagnosed with cancer," he recalled. "I was dead broke and nearly dead when I picked myself up off the floor and started researching an idea that had been in the back of my mind for years. I had nothing left but time on my hands and the intense desire to leave something of value behind me."

Frank's idea? Inventing an environmentally safe, non-solvent metal cleaner that would work in engines, gear-boxes, transmissions and any type of oil-lubricated equipment.

An application engineer who worked in the printing industry for some 30 years, Miller said he spent much of his career "knee-deep" in petroleum-based solvents used to clean printing presses. He's convinced that his close proximity to those solvents brought on his cancer.

"I found out that my fellow in-plant technicians nearly all had the same cancer," Miller said. "It's the constant eight hours a day, five days a week of solvents getting into your skin and pores that does it, and it's in the air that we breathe. Solvents do not disappear. When they drift from the printing plant or through the emissions from your car, they hang onto leaves and drop into the grass. They are there forever."

Physically weak and financially strapped, Miller spent hours at his computer, searching the Internet for the newest non-solvent, non-petroleum chemical technology.

"I was determined to find a formula that would clean metal and not poison me," he said, "and I found it in Natralube 1006, a natural occurring ester chemical formula developed by the Fanning Corp. With that formula as a base, we developed the pourability that would make the product viable."

After independent field and emissions tests and receiving U.S. application patent No. 6,544,349 for the cleaner, which he named Auto-RX, Miller arranged with Haviland Consumer Products in Grand Rapids, Mich., to produce and bottle it, set up his Web site and began marketing it over the Internet.

"It was a stroke of genius to sell it only over the Internet," said Miller's friend, Michael Camar of Jacksonville Beach. "Frank has complete control over his invention. He answers his phone and his e-mails, fields questions and gives advice one-on-one to customers. That kind of service is rare these days. Frank's invented the most ecologically safe product I've ever seen, and it's working in engines everywhere from California to the People's Republic of China."

Camar and Miller met recently to add a 12-ounce bottle of Auto-RX to the oil in Camar's 1994 Ford Taurus.

"After 35 years in the operations end of the oil business, I was a skeptic," said Camar, now retired, "but I've watched Frank market Auto-RX and seen the e-mail testimonies pour in, so I had to try it. This old car had some transmission problems, but since Auto-RX went into my transmission fluid, the results have been remarkable. Now, it's going into my oil. As Frank says, a clean engine is a healthy engine, and since better combustion equals better gas mileage, that's for me!"

On Miller's Web site, www.auto-rx.com, and other Web sites frequented by auto enthusiasts, such as www.bobistheoilguy.com, the buzz about Auto-RX is predominantly positive.

"I have noticed an increase that went from 18 miles per gallon to 21 miles per gallon," wrote Daryl Baines of DeLand. "On my daily commute, coming home tonight, I did tank top up and got 27 MPG versus my normal 24.5! .. . Woo Woo ... Snake oil, I think not," wrote Steve On from Palmdale, Calif.

Frank Nipper of Jacksonville said a lubrication specialist recommended that he try Auto-RX for the rear main seal oil leak in his 1987 Mitsubishi pickup truck.

"It just absolutely stopped the leak," Nipper said. "It seems Frank has a really effective product."

"It cost me less per bottle than the present-day cost of a tank of gas, and my engine in my 2002 Chrysler Sebring is worth $6,000," said John Marchant of Jacksonville's Northside. "The dealership told me I had sludge in the engine and they couldn't do anything for me. I put Auto-RX in my oil. My engine is now quieter and running smoother. It's working."

After about five years of marketing on the Internet, and the addition of new lines including 3-RX for printing presses and Cycle-RX for motorcycles, Miller recently incorporated his business.

"I just need a couple more years to make my dreams come true and leave a legacy for my four kids and four grandkids," he said.

"I've devoted myself to staying alive and getting this thing off the ground," he said. "I go in for treatments every four months, work out twice a day, eat a lot of healthy green stuff like broccoli, and take a battery of strong nutrients over and above the chemo. I'm not afraid to die. I just want to die well, knowing that I've done something good. I'm praying to God that my kids inherit a company they can be proud of or the money from the sale of that company. Either way, I'll be in the history books as the guy who did this."

Keep a Dream Journal: Why Bother? by: Patti Testerman

Want a key to unlock your inner wisdom? Try keeping a dream journal.

Experts believe that our nighttime dreams deal with concerns, worries, or events that we experience during our waking hours. A study done in 2003 speculated that about 50-percent of people have work-related nightmares.

In brief, dreams are like moves that streams through our minds, directed and produced by our subconscious. Dreams can help solve knotty problems, or simply give voice to ongoing issues. Some dreamers even implant a before-bed suggestion to dream a solution to a specific problem, like “tonight’s dream will help me overcome my problem with Jack.”

The connection between dreams and our subconscious has been speculated on for centuries. In fact, Aristotle theorized that there is a definite connection between dreams, emotional needs and waking experiences. However, in order to take full advantage of our nighttime movies, we need to keep dream journals that record as much detail as can be remembered.

To fully understand our dreams, experts like Carl Jung and Ira Progoff, believe a series of dreams must be examined, not just a single night’s images. To assist in the interpretative process, the following steps are suggested:

1. Date and time your dream. You may find that the dreams you have just before waking have different themes than those right after going to sleep. When you date your dream, don’t forget to include the year.

2. Title your dreams, like The Monkey Attacked the Cow, Airplanes Explode over the North Pole, or Jack Won’t Stop Pulling My Hair. Over a period of time, you’ll probably find recurring themes, like dreams with spiders, or plane crashes, or being chased.

3. Briefly note the day’s events. If you write down any irritations, worries, angers, or heightened emotions you had during the day, you may be able to see a clear correlation between the day’s events and your dreams.

4. Record your dream in as much detail as possible, including the emotions you experienced during the dream, AND the emotions you experienced in recording the dream. Feel free to illustrate your dream, either through a drawing or photograph.

5. List the important keywords from your dream. These might be words like love, hero, flying, snakes, puppies, peace or death.

6. Interpret the dream. Without using devices like a dream dictionary, try to interpret what you feel the dream was about. Was it about being trapped, breaking free, venting strong emotions, taking a journey, or?? There is no right or wrong answer—so allow yourself the freedom of speculating on a meaning.

7. Look for recurring themes. Once a month, look back through your dream journal, searching for repeating patterns. If you find one, your inner self is trying its best to give you an important message. Don’t forget to look for patterns in your list of important keywords.

Sweet dreams!

Listening With Care

Personal experience cannot realistically be assumed to be even similar to anyone else’s.

Despite what we may have been taught to believe, right and wrong, good or bad, is so often a local, time-sensitive view that is of no greater significance than being an aspect of normal behavior for this time at this place. It is worth having this in mind when listening to the views of another person and think whether their values reflect their age and environment as much as our own opinions reflect ours. Other things like class, wealth, social circumstances and education will also influence what is considered to be appropriate for another person. Respecting these differences in others will win us respect for our own idiosyncrasies, and lead to our being more tolerated for our own strange behavior.

Personal experience is just that – personal – and cannot realistically be assumed to be even similar to anyone else’s - one man’s meat is another woman’s poison - and yet, most of us want to reach further, in whatever way we feel is important to us. Of course this requires us to adopt new perspectives, to try out new things, which can be at first rather challenging and odd to say the least. In fact, very often we tend to shy away from the new as a reflex action of defense, and this negative unhelpful habit has to be addressed if we want to grow in a healthy way, free of fear and narrow-mindedness. Our willingness to embrace new ideas, learn skills and meet people unreservedly enough to avoid bigotry shows itself by our being open-minded.

When someone is talking to us and we are inwardly resistant and tend to disagree, then on some level they can feel that. It will probably diminish their ability to express their thoughts clearly and confidently – and could in fact considerably influence not only how they speak but also the content of what they say. However, if our listening attention is warm and supportive, then rapport is established and a sense of harmony can pervade the atmosphere between us. What is said then somehow gives form to the good feelings that exist and generates positivity that can help you in what you want from the exchange.

This is no small thing. If we want to make the world a better place, then we will all need to learn how to think and speak much more positively, and therefore learn to listen to others in such a way that their thoughts and words are more inclined to be positive. A tricky task! We can’t just tell people to stop being negative because this will simply strengthen their attitude. Indeed, we want them to realize what they are doing, (and we may feel constrained and obliged to facilitate this awakening!) yet it has to be gently managed.

Let us remember that the communication process is co-creative; the listener and speaker are doing it together. As was said, the listener’s quality of attention has an effect upon the message in form as well as essence. It goes without saying that the speaker’s words will touch the listener. Each is influencing the other and – significantly – the content and presentation of the message too. This is food for thought; we have been rather given to think differently – that the individual is responsible for his own output and that he takes the credit too.

Perhaps a degree more humility is appropriate when we talk, our gems of wisdom are not actually ours at all; they are more honestly to be seen as shared with the one we are talking to. Also when listening we could take a little more responsibility for what is said to us, and perhaps more importantly, how it is said - with a tone that indicates respect, anger, contempt or sensitivity - because “it takes two to tango”.

There is of course another good reason to listen carefully, respectfully, warmly and open-mindedly to another person – there’s a reasonable chance that they have something of importance for us to learn!

The ideas follow the 7 Words model – that everything is fundamentally an expression of seven basic life principles: No, Hello, Thanks, Goodbye, Please, Sorry, Yes. You may be able to identify them in the order of presentation of these paragraphs.

Learning Emotional Flow

A guided meditation from Hethball

This is Hethball speaking. We want you to take a look at yourself in a way you are not accustomed to. Pretend that you are the image on a photographic negative. What if you existed in a dimension of reality where the photographic negative was the normal way to be? What would happen if you were a reverse of yourself? If you were taken from your familiar reality and placed into a projecting device, and found yourself existing in two places at once, you might not know where your reality was. This is how you must see yourself in this life: there are parts of yourself that exist elsewhere than where you are now. Also accept the turmoil that comes about because you can’t identify specifically what you are. Then, when you find that you are upset in your emotions, you will accept what you find: an exchange of energy between different locations and different kinds of nature; the shift that happens when one space is created within another. You must accept this kind of exchange as normal.

Now we want you to relax inside. Let yourself become at peace. Notice a shifting within the peace. You are always moving about inside. There is a potential energy there. These are your emotions, the potential shifting. When you try to limit these shifts, you interfere with the progress of reality, because your belief system holds that these shifts are not good, and you unconsciously raise internal barriers.

We want you to unlock these dimensions. Let yourself relax again. Imagine that there is a high-level force entering the streams of your consciousness. This high-level force from another dimension begins to overtake you. Notice how you respond when you sense something overtaking your consciousness. Be aware of the barriers that rise up, and of how you shift into a high gear of resistance. Now we want you to let things flow through. No matter what it is, let it go by you. No matter what you feel, let the feeling happen. See yourself rising to a higher level of reality. When you look around, you see that there is flow happening. All around you is flowingness. The idea of a higher dimension contains the idea of fleecy whiteness, of clouds flowing by. Shifting happens easily and effortlessly on the higher planes of reality. This is how you must become. See yourself as something that floats in the wind.

Now we’d like you to remember a time in your past when your emotions were hurt, when some disaster befell you. And we want you to increase the energy input to your memory of that time until you can see the higher energies filling you up. We want you to see how energy flows through you as you were in that previous experience, to aid you in healing that moment. You are sending the light of the present time, the understanding of flow that you now have, into your experience in the past. See how you flow, how light you become when flowing happens... how light you feel now, letting it happen in the past. See how you unravel the darkness, the mystery and the confusion, and make them light. Make yourself as if you couldn’t hear the sounds, as if the disaster’s wind passed by you but didn’t touch you because you were like an open door.

Now open your heart and let love pour through it. Let the experience of love permeate your thought consciousness so that you send it into the previous darkness, the pain that you felt, the emotions that rise up with the pain. Let yourself experience laughter and love together to help heal the past. Now you’ve created joy, and joy will help you overcome your pain and suffering. When you find joy, your emotions rise to a higher level and your emotions are at peace. You now have a peaceful understanding of how things work in the universe, and how you can add joy to your life. Don’t be afraid to come here often. Add laughter to the sounds you enjoy when you express yourself. Laugh wholeheartedly. You are more alive when you have flow. Increase your flow by laughing out loud, letting your energy bodies bounce, letting them feel bouncy in the winds of change, in the flow of love, in the expression of joy. Imagine yourself laughing loudly; let yourself see it happen, joyfulness overtaking you. How often do you let yourself feel enjoyment? Now, the universe loves this. It loves when you’re happy. You will find freedom by bringing a joyful attitude to everything in which you are involved. Then your emotions will be free of their bondage to the earth plane, to the past, to your dark experiences. With an attitude of joyfulness you will become free again. You will regain the freedom you had before. The wings of joy will carry you to heavenly experiences.

Now go with love into the worldly experiences, and take joy with you.

In a Nutshell

Imagine being a photographic negative in a projecting device. See a projection of yourself.

Being both a negative and a projection is confusing to the emotions, but notice a flow of energy between the two places.

Notice that there are some obstacles to that flow.

Imagine yourself floating upward. As you do, notice that the energy flows through the barriers.

Remember emotional pain that you have experienced. Send light and love to that time and see how you can increase the flow through the pain.

Let the love become laughter and joy.

Laugh out loud.
